Welcome to Sweet and Savoury Pursuits, my creative place on the net!  My name is Fida, and I have a passion for food. I think good food should be celebrated and I take joy in cooking for others and love making people happy through food.

This blog started out as a space for me to share some of my favourite recipes as well as my adventures in the kitchen.  Before I knew it my passion for cooking and baking grew into a passion for food photography and styling. So now this space is as much about my journey learning food photography and styling as it is about the food and the recipes.

Except for the occasional food photography workshop, I am a self-taught food photographer and stylist who still has much room for improvement but who is eager to learn and experiment with food photography. I hope that you will follow me as I continue to pursue this passion of mine.

But you may be wondering who is this Fida person? Well, I am the Canadian born daughter of Lebanese immigrants who came to Canada to build a better life for themselves. If you know anything about Lebanese culture and people than you know that family, friends, hospitality and food are of the utmost importance and this is what I grew up learning and still believe.

My own passion for cooking and baking developed during my time at university. When I needed a break from my studies, I would just get in the kitchen and start baking, usually cakes with different layers that took hours to make.

These days, I rarely have the luxury of time for such recipes, taking care of my children and my full-time work take up a large part of my days. But when I do have free time, I'm usually in the kitchen cooking or baking and then in my studio (which is really just my dining room 😉) styling and taking pictures of my creations.

All of the pictures I post on this site are taken by me unless otherwise specified. Please do not use my recipes or pictures on your site without linking back to mine and clearly indicating the source.
